Everyday Threads

Shirt: Thrifted // Skinnies: Target // Sandals: Target // Head Wrap:  Oh, Sweet Joy // Necklaces: Target
I've been stuck in rut.

I literally have been wearing workout clothes EVERYDAY.  'Good Job, Jess!' you may say...

But, no.  I fell off the P90X wagon soon after telling you about it... I am NOT working out everyday...

I feel like I need to wear my workout clothes so it LOOKS like there's a reason I look grubby.  Tell me I'm not the only one!  Plus, yoga pants are dabomb.com... don't even try to argue with that one!

It took a teensy bit more effort to get ready this morning, but it was worth it.  I have nothing special happening today... but changing diapers is a little more 'fun' with lipstick on!

Outfit deets:  LOVE my head wrap (gift from ROX!) from Oh, Sweet Joy.  I have 2 day old hair so it's getting a little rough.. My head wrap makes dressing cute a little more possible!  She has a lot of prints and different styles.

Just scored my sandals from Target for $15! Score!

Target jeans are fantastic. Cheap and quite a few styles to choose from.. I have high-waisted skinnies (comfy and stretchy!) that are PERFECT for post-baby bodies!  I can't wait to style them to showcase the fantastic waistline of these jeans!  They are very modern-meets-vintage.

Thanks for reading, friends!  And thanks for sharing in my accomplishment of getting dressed today!!

{almost} Weekend Wear

Shirt - Wal-Mart // Shorts - Thrifted // Sandals - Rack Room // Necklace - Self-made

In between our random temperature drops, we've had some FANTASTIC spring weather.  And in Mississippi, we don't have very long until we are dripping with sweat. So I'm enjoying it while I can with my spring-y clothes!

People, I got my piko-style shirt for FIVE BUCKS from Wal-Mart.  It's so comfy, forgiving, and awesome.  Plus, who can beat a $5 shirt?  I can tell it will make its appearance on many occasions this spring and summer.

Enjoy your spring days, have a VERY HAPPY EASTER, and we'll be back next week!

He is risen!!!

-mini- Weekend Wear { Vol. XX }

button-up:  big bro's old shirt // jeggings:  Wal-Mart // boots:  Academy Sports // Necklace: self-made
This gal's ready for a fall weekend..

Not a care in the world..

Wearin' her mama's necklace..

Trompin' around like she's, "All that and a bag of chips"...
(Did I just totally age myself with that phrase??  I should see how often I can say that in everyday conversation and keep a straight face....)

Do your mini-me's like getting their hair done??  My gal is usually loves it.  We either watch a show with a snack OR sit in mommy's bathroom and play with my make-up brushes or whatever won't break.

I just did a french twist down either side and met the twists in the middle with a clear hairband.  I twisted her tiny pony into a bun and secured it with a couple bobby pins.

I usually spray down her hair (with water) first so it's easier to handle, and then I use a light hold hairspray to set it.

That's all for now folks!

What are you wearing this weekend??

Weekend Wear { Vol. XIX }

Cardigan: Target // Tank: Old Navy // Necklace: Anthropologie //
Booties: Target // Skinny Jeans: Old Navy

Can you tell I'm ready for Fall?

Although the daytime temps around our neck of the woods are not quite cool enough to pull this off, you could definitely get away with this at night.

It is slowly but surely feeling like Fall around here.

And I couldn't be more ready.

Happy Weekend, y'all......and here's hoping for cooler temps for us all!

Weekend Wear: Volume XVIII { Sunday Edition }

Shirt - Facebook Yardsale // Skirt - silence + noise via GoodWill // Wedge booties - Old Navy via GoodWill // Clutch - old
Necklace - Handmade

I have been pretty much MIA recently...

My family just made a HUGE life change!  Although we are excited about this change, it has been B-U-S-Y 'round these parts.

So as I type this little post here, I am sitting in running pants, tank, and hat (pretending I am going to work-out soon... we all know that's a lie!).

I look forward to celebrating tomorrow with worship, rest, and probably a shower! :)

Stay tuned for an update on the life changes and what is coming up on this here bliggity-blog!

Thanks for reading, y'all!

-Jess

P.S.  Are y'all wearing your booties yet??  I'm so stinkin' sick of painting my nails, wearing sandals, etc.  IT'S TIME FOR THE BOOTIES.  I don't care if it's 95 degrees outside.  I'm wearin' them.  Help me feel better about myself and wear them, too, why dontcha???? :)

Weekend Wear { Vol. XVI }

Shirt: Old Navy (old) // Bracelet: Target (old) // Belt: Target (old)
// Skirt: Target (on clearance NOW) // Shoes: Jessica Simpson

This week's weekend wear will probably be the girliest thing you will ever see me wear.

You see I tend to stick with blues, greens, the occasional rusty orange, and LOTS of neutrals.

But no pink for me.

Like, this is literally the only truly pink item of clothing I own.

That is, until I found this one on clearance at Target for $9 (I purchased it TODAY, so I'm sure you can still find one).

And I have to say, pink isn't all that bad!

Happy Weekend, y'all!

Rox

(Oh, and I tried out a new way of doing my hair by using Katie's tutorial found here.  I still need some practice, but it's pretty easy overall!)

Weekend Wear: Recap

We are on week 17 of our Weekend Wear series!
(Actually... I won't mention names, but SOMEONE obviously can't count very well in Roman Numerals and skipped number 11... so we are supposed to be on Week 16... Woops.  My bad.  I mean, SOMEONE'S bad...)

Since we are all in the middle of moving, life changes, recovering from the wedding of the century, etc... I decided to just do a recap of our outfit posts until now.. ENJOY!

One of my favorite things about Weekend Wear is that I've kept myself searching through my closet to come up with new outfits with clothes I already have!  It's been fun to mix and match things I usually wear with one particular oufit.

Thanks for reading, y'all!!

Weekend Wear { Vol. XVI }

Earrings: Dillards // Shirt: Target // Cardigan: TJ Maxx // Shorts: Old Navy // Watch: Michael Kors // Sandals: Target
We had a random cooler, rainier day in Mississippi last week and I took the opportunity to try out a new Fall cardigan I recently found at TJ Maxx.  It's super lightweight and has a vintage feel to it (which was confirmed by my mom telling me she wore something almost identical in high school).

This outfit is super comfy and was worn to run errands (which is definitely fancier than I usually dress to run errands), but could double as something I might wear on a casual date night with my love.

And I've always loved the look of mixing clothing from different seasons - shorts with a long-sleeved top, jeans with a sleeveless top, etc.

( Or maybe I am just longing for cooler weather, so we can have a break from this awful humidity! )

Happy Friday, y'all!

Weekend Wear: { Volume XIV ]

Tank:  Wal-Mart // Skinnies:  Wal-mart // Sandals:  Target (old) //Necklace:  Handmade (see THIS post)

I wore this outfit to a movie today... although, I regretted my decision after stepping outside into a SAUNA, I was SO glad I wore them to the theater!  That place was FREEZING!  Goosebumps the ENTIRE time.

Other being perfect for the movie, it was nice to have a comfy outfit (flowy shirt, stretchy pants...) to be chasing around the kiddies!  I love feeling put together even though I know I'll end up with snot on my pants or smushy crackers on my shirt.

Now that you have THAT lovely picture... Have a great weekend!!!

Weekend Wear: Volume XII

Shirt: Thrifted, refashioned // Jeans:  Wal-Mart // Flats:  Thrifted // Necklace: Rue 21 // Watch:  Anne Klein, gift

I may or may not have been at the beach this weekend...

And since I'm not going to post what I wore most of the week, this'll have to do!

--Please ignore the cheeseball smiles... I got to spend a little time without the kiddos so the hubby was being a goofball and making me laugh.--

What are YOU wearing this weekend??

Weekend Wear: Volume X

Shirt: Thrifted // Vest: Thrifted // Skirt: Thrifted // Shoes: Target (old) // Necklace: Wal-Mart

How in the world am I going to survive this summer heat??

With skirts and sleeveless shirts.

Vests are a nice way to add layers in the summer without adding warmth.  I made this vest by just cutting off the sleeves of a denim shirt I bought awhile back from Goodwill.

My peep-toe flats are probably my favorite summer shoes, and the yellow is always a fun pop of color!

Weekend Wear { Vol. IX }

Shirt: Old Navy // Shorts: Old Navy // Belt: Target (similar) // Shoes: Target // Bracelet: Target

Happy Friday, y'all!

As you can see, the shorts were finally set free from their closet confinement.

This Mississippi humidity is something fierce, I tell ya.

And while I am not usually a white shorts kinda gal (am I showing my true Southern vocabulary today or what?) because of my irrational fear of people seeing straight through them, the pattern on these gave me the confidence to put these babies on.

All of the other pieces of this outfit are some of my clothing staples that can easily be mixed and matched.  (Translation: Don't be surprised to see each of these pieces in another Weekend Wear post in the near future.)

What are YOU wearing this weekend?

Weekend Wear { Vol. VIII }

Scarf: Target // Shirt: Piko // Watch: Michael Kors // Skinnies: Lucky Brand // Shoes: Target

The summer tan has not quite set in for me, so my go-to outfit for a night/day out is going to involve pants.  Shorts will make their appearance in my wardrobe soon enough, I promise.

These white skinnies were actually found at TJ Maxx for a fraction of the cost and fit perfectly.  Don't you just love when that happens?  And the Piko has made an appearance once again, and I promise this will not be the last either.  They are the most comfortable and versatile pieces of clothing I own right now.  The scarf is from this season at Target, and the shoes were purchased last year.

What pieces of clothing are staples for your summer wardrobe?

{ And I just want all you readers to know that I don't take myself so seriously that I don't recognize how goofy my pose is on the right.  Hahaha.  What was I doing? }

Happy Weekend friends!

Weekend Wear: { Volume VII }

It's SUMMER here in the South.

Jackets and boots are put away.

It's time for shorts.

And apparently moccasins.

A scarf and closed-toed shoes even out the shorts and sleeveless shirt when it's not QUITE June 21st.

Happy Weekend to you!!

What are you wearing for Memorial Day weekend??

Weekend Wear { Volume VI }

Jean Jacket: Old Navy \\ Necklace: Dainty Deals \\ Maxi Dress: Forever 21 (old)
\\ Watch: Michael Kors \\ Ring: Old Navy \\ Shoes: Target
 This is one of my go-to outfits when I want to dress up a little but still be really comfy.  The jersey dress is lightweight and breathable, so it is perfect when paired with a jacket for cooler weather or worn strapless for those hot summer months.  I purchased the dress from Forever 21 about 3 or 4 years ago, but I'm sure something similar can be found at Old Navy or Target.

The necklace is a recent purchase of mine from Dainty Deals (mine is Salmon colored).  I found this shop from a post by Merrick's Art, and they have just a few scarves and necklaces, but the prices are fantastic!  I'm all about a good deal.  If you haven't checked it out, you are missing out.

You may also may recognize the shoes from some of Jess' posts.  And the reason you do is because they are the exact same ones, ha!  I unashamedly copied and love that they add some pattern to any simple outfit.

Our Weekend Wear posts are meant to show you some outfits that we actually wear as well as give you some ideas of some budget friendly items that can be paired together.  We buy most of our clothes from the thrift store, Target, Old Navy, Marshalls and similar stores, and want to share how inexpensive items can be paired together.  I hope we are accomplishing our goal!

Weekend Wear { Volume 5 }

Shirt - Handmade; Jeans - Wal-Mart; Floral Wedges - thrifted; Necklace - handmade (tutorial); Watch and bracelets - gift

It's raining.  And cold.  So the chances of me keeping this on all day is slim to none.  I'm pretty sure I'll be changing into pajama pants, sweatshirt, and socks VERY soon.

I'm not too sure about the pink lips and coral necklace together... if nude looked good on my lips, I'm pretty sure that's what I would have put on.  Instead I'm wearing nude on my toes! (Revlon ColorStay in Bare Bones.)

I have this thing about wearing something patterned if everything else is plain.  My floral wedges are my favorite spring shoe choice if I want a heel.  Otherwise I choose my leopard/cheetah (not sure which one!) print flats to add a pattern to a plain outfit.

I love, love to layer bracelets.  It's pretty hard to go wrong when layering bracelets... it always adds a little interest to an otherwise boring outfit!

I found the inspiration for making my shirt from Cotton & Curls.  She has a few very, very easy shirt tutorials that you should check out!  I ended combining a couple different methods and ideas she had to come up with my own version.

NOW.

Rox inspired me to share the joys of taking your own pictures... it's definitely the most awkward, ridiculous process... so here are what the bulk of my photos end up looking like:
1.  Umm, what is this??  In my defense, it was raining... I got caught up in the moment...
2.  Why in the world did this even happen??  Is that even a real pose??  Wow.
3.  I guess I was caught up in the moment here, too???  Must've been singing, "I whip my hair back and forth..."

Thanks for reading!  What are you wearing this weekend?

Weekend Wear { Volume IV }

Scarf: American Eagle || Shirt: Gap Factory Store || Jeans: Old Navy || Shoes: Toms
I thought I would go for something this week a little closer to what I might actually wear on the weekend.  This is casual and comfortable and can easily be dressed up by replacing the scarf with a chunky necklace and the Toms with some ballet flats.

Also, I thought I might add a little confession time to my weekend wear posts because (a) I feel like it goes along with feeling awkward taking pictures of myself anyways and (b) to spice things up a little.

So, without further adieu, my weekly confessions:

1.  When taking pictures of myself for the blog, I typically take 80-100 (set the timer to take 10 at a time), and then around 5 turn out.

2.  This was the first time in 3 days that I had something other than a t-shirt and running pants on, even though I worked a total of 1 time.

3.  I had to delete about 20 pictures because my dog was in them.......and I had absolutely no idea.

4.  All of these pictures have dog food on the ground and I. don't. care.

5.  Here are examples of what 90% of pictures look like:

Just keeping it real, ladies.

Whew.

I feel much better.

Happy Weekend, y'all!
